Compliance Services for your Diesel Motorhome in California

Keep Your Motorhome in Clean Truck Check Compliance

Diesel motorhomes give you the freedom to explore the world in comfort, but in California, they also come with a responsibility. If your diesel motorhome has a gross vehicle weight rating of over 14,000 pounds, it falls under the CARB compliance standard of the Clean Truck Check program. If you need help making sure your motorhome in California stays in compliance, Be CARB Compliant can help you.

Avoid Motorhome Registration Holds

California motorhome owners must adhere to annual emissions compliance requirements under the Clean Truck Check program. Vehicles must undergo emissions testing and pay an annual compliance fee, aligning with their DMV registration expiration date.

Non-compliance with these regulations carries significant consequences. Vehicle owners may face DMV registration blocks, preventing the legal operation of their motorhomes, and other enforcement actions, which could include fines and legal penalties. The annual emissions testing and fee payment are crucial steps to avoid these repercussions and ensure the motorhome remains compliant with state regulations.

Be CARB Compliant offers comprehensive services to help motorhome owners navigate these requirements. Our experts handle all aspects of the compliance process, from the initial registration to scheduling and managing emissions tests. With Be CARB Compliant, motorhome owners can confidently meet CARB regulations, avoiding penalties and maintaining their vehicle’s legal status.

Timeline for Diesel Motorhome Compliance

The Clean Truck Check program kicked into high gear in 2024. However, emissions testing requirements will not kick in until 2025. Here is a brief timeline of what motorhome owners must do:

  • 2023: If your motorhome operated in California in 2023, you must pay the annual compliance fee for that year.
  • 2024: As of January 31, all affected vehicles, including diesel motorhomes, should have registered in the Clean Truck Check system and paid the 2024 compliance fee.
  • 2025: Emissions compliance testing requirements go into effect. Please note, you may not take your test more than 90 days before your vehicle’s compliance deadline. In most cases, the deadline is the month in which your registration expires.
  • 2026 and beyond: You must pay an annual compliance fee and submit an emissions test.

Do You Have Questions About Diesel Motorhome Compliance?

Be CARB Compliant wants you to have the information you need to keep your motorhome in California active and in compliance. Here are a few answers to questions we frequently receive.

CARB’s Clean Truck Check is a protocol designed to test heavy-duty vehicles’ emissions control systems for proper operation. The program applies to nearly all diesel and alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of over 14,000 pounds operating on California public roads. Diesel motorhomes in this weight class fall into the program.

For California-registered motorhomes, the compliance deadline is aligned with the vehicle’s DMV registration expiration date.

The certified testers at Be CARB Compliant will come to your location and handle the test. For most vehicles, this involves an OBD inspection that takes about half an hour.

Failing to comply can result in DMV registration blocks, preventing the legal operation of the motorhome, and may lead to fines and other enforcement actions.

Be CARB Compliant assists diesel motorhome owners with registering their vehicles, scheduling emissions tests, managing compliance fee payments, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met to avoid penalties and maintain vehicle legality.
